Position Summary
The A/V Technician supports audiovisual needs for Clark Art Institute events and other initiatives on a part-time, on-call basis. Responsibilities for this role include event A/V production (audio, projection, lighting) and media production (audio and/or video recording and/or livestreaming). 

Work will occur primarily in the evening and on the weekend, with hours varying from 5-10 hours per week (October-April) to up to 20 (May-September).

Minimum Starting Salary: $23/hr.

Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Transport, setup, and operate sound and video equipment for events
  • Monitor and adjust AV equipment as needed during lectures and meetings
  • Assisting lecturers with presentation setup
  • Other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications
Education, Training, and Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Configuration, use, and troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment such as projectors, televisions, soundboards, microphones, and PA systems
  • Extron/Crestron (or similar) audiovisual control systems
  • ETC or compatible DMX-based lighting control systems
  • Audio and video capture for editing
  • Videoconferencing and webinar software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Presentation software such as Powerpoint
  • Video streaming services such as Facebook Live
  • A/V accessibility tools such as transcription services/software and assistive listening devices

Work Experience

  • 1-3 years experience in A/V support, A/V production, or similar. Informal experience, such as work for a club or church, is acceptable.
  • Experience interacting positively with individuals from a broad range of backgrounds and identities.

  • Physical Demands: 
    • Ability to sit at a desk/workstation and using a computer for prolonged periods of time.
    • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
    • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces and stairs.
    • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment and museum spaces, including outdoor spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but may be high during events such as concerts. 


The individual in this role may be exposed to:

  • dust/dirt
  • outdoor allergens
  • flickering/strobing lights
  • varying states of weather and temperature
